Leelenau Water-to-Wine B&B Weekend - the Longplay Version
Skill Level: Beginner to advanced

This weekend program is based out of our own Leelanau Peninsula. For extra comfort we are basing this long weekend trip out of a lovely vacation rental on Lake Leelanau to do some great kayak day trips and tour a few of our stellar wine operations. We have friends who tend and manage vines in the area and have an inside track on who has the nicest grapes and who is producing the year’s best wines. We'll be checking out some of the regular stops on the wine trail, but count on some Rock-star treatment through the back door to test some great whites, brilliant sparklers and even a few surprising reds. Its like having your own personal wine festival.
This program is for wine enthusiasts and foodies alike timed to take advantage of harvest time here in the NW part of the state. With the exception of one dinner out, you'll also be enjoying Michael's menus and cooking throughout the weekend. We try to take maximum advantage of local seasonal produce, meats, cheeses and some of our wonderful local breads.
Day 1) Arrive after dinner thurs evening between 7-9 pm. Get acquainted and settled over a dessert plate of cheese and fruit with Cherry Port. Orientation for the rest of the weekend.
Days 2) Friday morning basics skills workshop in a sheltered bay followed by a short day tour and lunch on the lake. Our late afternoon will be spent touring a couple of our finer local vineyards with a fine dinner produced in our own kitchen.
Day 3) Saturday paddle to wherever our weather and desires take us followed by visits to a couple of great wineries and then dinner out to one our local truly exceptional restaurants (cost on your own).
Day 4) After a fine Sunday Brunch we'll gear up for a 3 hour day trip on Lake Michigan (weather permitting) to hone your techniques and enjoy a little open water practice. We'll turn you loose for home or check out another winery at about 2 pm.
Cost includes professional guide/instructor, three nights shared lodging, kayaking equipment (boat, paddle, PFD, skirt), breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Please call if you have special diet requirements...there is a profile form to fill out to help us cater to your food tastes (we design the menu around YOU) .You are more than welcome to bring your own touring kayak if you have one and we'll be happy to help you learn to get the most out of it.
