Island Time
I think after my arrival here on Roatan, I’d felt like I’d reached my destination, so I stopped blogging. The business of working with a new assistant, getting set up to run programs and doing our very best to provide the ultimate kayak vacation kind of eclipsed anything else. Now, with a bit of time on my hands between trips, it dawns on me that its still a journey. Awaking at 5 am to the sounds of a big outboard stuck on the grassflat in front of my rented octagonal house, feeding Pantera-the-wonderdog, trying to get my head in the game of April and upcoming programs in a slumping economy. There are some challenges…some mini-me 6-yr-old mechanic’s “helper” slipped a half quart of motor oil into my transmission at Angel’s oil change/landfill. Even with two transfusions, that remains non-functional. My camera mystery disappears along with my iphone…while I’m in my house having just used them. Its kind of like I said on the way down…things were going too smoothly and they have to balance. Unfortunately, the re-balancing is happening all at once.
Well, the good news is that this week the weather is fine on Roatan and my best fishing buddy of 30 years is coming down for a whole week and we’re going HUNTING for bonefish. Good food, good stories, several ounces of beer and maybe, just maybe, we’ll even go fishing.
